As we approach and prepare for Easter next week, what a great opportunity to truly reflect on the life of Jesus.
Jesus was human, just like us, during His time on earth, because this was God’s perfect plan. God desired to form a personal relationship with each of us, and bring us a way out of sin and death. And so, He gave us Jesus, His one and only Son.
I think we forget, or at least find it somewhat difficult to understand, the “human” role of Jesus, and the significance in it’s gift and purpose.
Jesus was human, so that He could experience, endure and walk through life, in the exact same way as each of us. He faced physical pain, emotional distress, and every feeling of fear, loss, loneliness and sadness, in the same way as us. For God knew there was no better way to connect with us in our “humanness”…so He sent Jesus…to be just like us.
Jesus is our friend, advocate, and intercessor…the Truth, the Way and the Light, for us to know, see, and hear God more clearly. He is our Shepherd, always watching out for us, and leading us back through the gate to God, when we get lost. He understands all we go through, because “Jesus was human… for a while”.
Jesus came to teach us how to love, with compassion, understanding and forgiveness. Through His sacrifice, He gave His life, and became the greatest illustration of the unconditional love that God has for each one of us.
And though His human form exists no longer here with us, He left His Spirit within each of us, to continue to be with us, along our life journey.
Take some quiet time this next week, to truly reflect on the “human” life of Jesus, and all He selflessly gave and sacrificed for us. Invite Him into your heart…tell Him thank you…and be humbly grateful for all He did for you.
May your Easter be Blessed with Love, Joy and Gratefulness.
