Hello! It’s been a little while since I began my new Journey here, sharing my inspirations and “little somethings”, with all of you. So, I thought I would invite you in to share a little bit about my family and my own “simple” life, since I periodically refer to my personal experiences in the stories I share. I think it’s nice to connect to an author in a personal sense, for a deeper understanding and connection, as well as to see where my heart speaks from.
When I say “simple”, I definitely don’t mean my life is “easy”. I am speaking to the fact that it is not extra special, but is wonderfully blessed in all things that truly matter. And hopefully, as an inspiration in itself, showing how God can work through any life, whether ordinary or extraordinary.
Let me introduce you to my family. Tom is my hubby, the two furry guys, are Bernie (my 13 year old) and Leo (my baby, whose 4). My amazing daughter, Sarah (my one and only child) and wonderful son-in-law, George, who are newlyweds as of July, of last year. We had a wonderful wedding to celebrate the union of these two very special people, and are blessed now with the son, we never had.
We live in a small, cozy home in Indiana. After many years of working outside the home, I am currently blessed and tremendously grateful, for the opportunity to now stay at home, to pursue and follow my passion and calling…to write. God’s provision has been generous and amazing, in this transition to a single income. Tom works for a Hospice here, and through his own special gift, helping others through the most difficult times of their life.
I worked outside of the home for many years, as a hairstylist, and in a career as a Paralegal, as well as having my own little business, designing art and jewelry for a few years.
Tom and I will be married 26 years this March. We’ve had our ups, downs, and certainly many challenges, including a two and a half year separation, that almost lead to a divorce. God graciously saved our marriage, and we are now learning to be “happy” empty nesters”, for our one and only daughter/child, got married last year!
Our life isn’t “exciting” by any worldly standards, we are pretty much straightforward “home bodies”, in our truest identities. Not that we’re hermits (chuckle), we love to get away when we can for a day or two, we’re just not long distance travelers.
Our greatest delight, is sharing our home with friends and family, for everyone loves to gather at our humble dwelling…especially in the Summer. We hang out on our patio, float in our pool, and love to have fires around the chiminea.
Our house is almost 100 years old, so this keeps us busy, for I am always thinking of another project for Tom to accomplish (don’t worry, I help too)… we actually work quite well together and always enjoy the finished product! Guess you could say our home is our hobby.
We have a huge love for dogs, and volunteer our time and support at some of the local animal programs within our area. We lead a marriage group together, and are gratefully blessed, to have truly special people in our life, who love and support each other.
Tom and I both, have dedicated hearts for God, and nurture and grow our faith together, which by the way, is the secret to a happy marriage.
We enjoy the outdoors, a good movie, date nights out for dinner, and the time we are able to share with those we love.
What we’ve learned through the years, is to live gratefully blessed, being happy and content where we are in each moment, trusting God in every situation, and through every challenge. Knowing He is always with us and has our best interest at heart…And this is where a “simple” life, becomes an extraordinary journey.
So there you have it, a short synopsis of my simple life. A life that I am truly grateful for, and blessed beyond anything I deserve, by my Heavenly Father, through His Love, Grace and Mercy.
P.S. I began writing about a year and a half ago, when the Holy Spirit called upon my heart to share my own personal messages with others. You can find many more of my previous inspirations, along with some of my own favorite, fun, interesting and informative facts that I like to share, on my Facebook Page…just click on the FB icon at the top right corner of this page and it will take you right to it.
Live Lovingly & Gratefully Blessed Dear Friends.
